HSBC Indonesia

My career journey began at HSBC Indonesia, where I had the privilege of working within a dynamic and highly professional team led by accomplished managers. This role provided an invaluable foundation in data-driven decision-making, as I developed skills in analyzing visual data, interpreting candlestick charts, and understanding daily exchange rates, along with a wide range of investment and banking products.

Retail Banking & Wealth Management - Express Service Representative

August 2011 - July 2014

My responsibilities included assisting customers with their daily banking needs and transactions, as well as providing information and answering questions about investment products such as insurance, bonds, mutual funds, and more. I helped clients set up banking products, including time deposits and internet banking, and collaborated with HSBC colleagues globally to assist premier customers in opening accounts abroad. Through consistently delivering professional, high-quality service, I built and maintained trust with customers, fostering lasting professional relationships. Additionally, I was entrusted with managing security protocols, such as balancing debit card PINs, phone banking PINs, and retained cards, while verifying customer credit card applications and bank references. I also handled inquiries and resolved issues through various channels, including in-person, phone banking, and online, ensuring a high standard of support and care.

From Banking to Wellness...

On a monthly basis, I analyzed event profitability and the effectiveness of campaigns, such as the ‘7 Days Unlimited’ pass, which offered unlimited yoga classes at a fixed price. This experience sharpened my skills in data analytics and market research, allowing me to gain insights into customer demographics, preferences for classes and teachers, and emerging yoga trends. These findings not only informed our marketing strategies but also guided management in decision-making, ultimately contributing to the growth of the business.

Frustrated by Jakarta’s traffic and air pollution, and seeking a healthier environment, I relocated to Bali and joined The Yoga Barn as an Events & Marketing Coordinator, a role that introduced me to digital marketing, event management, and market research. While my time at HSBC developed my skill in analyzing visual data, here I had the opportunity to expand my expertise by working extensively with data in Excel. In this fast-paced environment, I successfully managed events with tight deadlines, fostering strong relationships with facilitators and clients. I collaborated with graphic and media teams to develop compelling marketing materials and promoted events across community channels, the website, email campaigns and social media.

The Real Exploration: The Ultimate Journey of Learning & Growth

Yoga Yojana

Account Manager | April 2017 - Present

I began my journey here as a Part-Time Administrative Assistant, handling essential tasks such as email correspondence, bookkeeping, invoicing, and market research. In my first year, the company experienced mismanagement issues, leading to the loss of several major clients and subsequent downsizing. This shift required me to step into expanded responsibilities, including preparing email campaigns and setting up the payment system.

Over time, I built long-term, trusting relationships with our clients by managing their onsite and virtual events. My role evolved to include engaging with prospective clients interested in our programs, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring timely, successful delivery of solutions aligned with each client’s needs and goals. I assisted in handling challenging requests or escalations, supported program setup through market research and trend analysis, managed registrations and payment systems, updated client websites, launched effective email campaigns, and prepared marketing promotions. I also oversaw budgeting and created Profit and Loss reports for each event.

When I sought new challenges, I proactively took web development courses, which allowed me to gain trust in maintaining and updating client websites, as well as set up automations. Then, in 2020, the pandemic brought unique challenges as our clients, mainly in yoga training and retreats, were impacted by lockdowns. To support them, we conducted market research to identify optimal online course platforms, competitive pricing strategies, and effective promotional methods. We successfully launched online courses and digital products for our clients, enabling their businesses—and ours—to adapt and thrive during this period.

Working for this company has truly been a transformative experience, where I feel continuously trusted, heard, and valued. The culture encourages growth and innovation, with ample opportunity to explore and implement new strategies. I especially enjoy our collaborative brainstorming sessions focused on crafting impactful marketing strategies that not only boost our clients' sales but also resonate deeply with their target audience. It’s inspiring to help shape solutions that support our clients' unique business goals and niches.

In this role, I’m able to actively leverage and refine my expertise in digital marketing, data analysis, and market research, bringing real value to our clients and driving their success forward.

Side Project: When Data Talks Louder than Humans

Taksu Spa

Market Research & Analyst | October 2019 - August 2021

In this role, I supported the marketing team by conducting comprehensive market research to enhance the marketing of spa services and restaurant products. My key tasks involved gathering data on consumer demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits, monitoring marketing and sales trends, and analyzing the effectiveness of current strategies. I collected valuable insights on consumers, competitors, and market conditions, prepared monthly newsletter content, and coordinated with department heads on product promotion, adjusting strategies to align with current market trends. I also provided a monthly visitors analytics report and supported digital marketing initiatives, especially through email campaigns and social media.

Through this experience, I learned the importance of cross-verifying system data with actual records to ensure accuracy. I identified discrepancies between system data and guest forms—particularly in demographic details, customer reviews, and financial information. This discrepancy highlighted gaps in data entry that, when addressed, resulted in more accurate customer insights and helped reveal significant financial discrepancies.
